In modern terms it’s easy to drown in the flow of information. Media literacy coaches know how to deal in the media. The training will clear the formation of news and misinformation purposes. Participants will be able to distinguish between information and propaganda learn about the types of promotion, in practice, to consider journalistic standards and “jeans”. Trainers offer a practical and fun way to deal with difficult things and learn a lot.

Manipulation and ways to combat it
January 22, 7:00 – 8:45
With critical thinking training participants will learn to recognize manipulation in the media. Coaches will learn not only distinguish fake in the news, but also provide an opportunity to practice their creation. The training also can learn to use modern means to debunk fake and find evidence of untruthfulness information.

“Creating Fake personally helped me to understand the mechanisms and objectives of misinformation. Very interesting were the exercises of manipulation. It became clear why people easily follow someone than make their own decisions. Hate speech
January 26, 6:30 pm – 8:45

Participants will analyze how they think stereotypically. Learn how using negative stereotypes shaped the image of the enemy. Coaches will induce practical examples of prejudice and dehumanization of the enemy in the media. Will be considered historical examples of hate speech and technology. Participants will be able to work out and submit its ways of confrontation hate speech.

“For me were very interesting examples of hate speech in the media. I seriously thought about how I perceive stereotyped all information. Understanding of ways to create discord in our society will help me in human rights activities.” George, a member of the training in Cherkassy.

Trainings are conducted in cooperation with the “Program of media literacy of citizens”, developed by the Global Peace and Security Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. In Ukraine, introduced a draft parntnery: IREX, StopFake, and the Academy of Ukrainian Press. Training for trainers held in 14 cities of Ukraine. 420 media trainers teach people in their fields. Sessions of the American house of master trainers will conduct the project.
